Inspiration for the Studio Shoot - 11.12.22

This is just a catch-up blog post about the studio shoot and where I came up with the crime scene sort of ideas. The first reason that I wanted to do something related to this was me explaining my ideas to a classmate of mine to see what would stick and they pointed out that the best thing to do was to do a book cover of sorts, which is mostly based on a book cover. I delved deeper and thought about making posters and banners to showcase my setups and studio lighting for this.

And, of course, to get ideas I looked at book covers to see if any inspiration would come to mind.

These are shown below;

Most of the book covers that I have chosen were the ones that involved illustrations that are easy to recreate in the studio or were proper photographs.

I thought that the idea of the shadows was good but would require me to plan stuff out with classmates and I quickly found out that it was really difficult to do such things when they are busy with their own projects. So I pivoted and started doing stuff with origami, as this was still based on paper. I think that what I want to do for the studio shoot was to make sure that I could get a long shadow from the origami, and have this fake blood to show a murderous intent with the image.
