Evaluation of Project - 16.01.23
Firstly, this project was probably one of my favourite ones as this expanded what type of photography I wanted to do outside of this project and in my spare time.
This made me feel like my photography would evolve into photographing people as my previous work only consisted of photographing things that look nice and aesthetic.
Also creating a photobook was nice as this would showcase my abilities through graphic design and photography. Rearranging the book layouts to my liking took longer than expected, but was definitely more personal due to needing to do the layout of the photobook.
This was also one of the more enjoyable ones due to falling back onto street photography, which I do outside of the course.
I think that my weakness in this project was probably taking too many photos for this project and not focusing on the other photography projects during this time.
One of my favorites photos are shown below;

I like this photo as the context of the photo was my tutor taking a photo of the art dumpster. I feel like there is irony in this photo as the photographer is taking a photo of art, even though the word art is on a dumpster.
I also like this photo as this is taken on film medium, which I prefer compared to digital photos. Black and white also has this finesse to it as black and white mostly focuses on the subject of the photo.
The composition of the photo is also something that I like as well. Having something in the foreground makes it interesting, as you can focus on a lot of things in the photo. I also liked the way that the subject is on a focal point of the frame, whilst being in the rule of thirds. The dumpster is also in the lower third of the framing, which makes the viewer focus on the subject.
I also liked the way that the focal length is in the telephoto range. I would've liked the photo more if the aperture was lower, but due to the film being ISO 400 and the lens only having an aperture of f2.8, the background was not as blurred. But, this lack of aperture made up for it due to the focal length compressing the foreground, middle ground and background tighter.
One thing that I would change when doing this project was focusing too much on it, as I did not think about the other projects. Due to preferring this project more than the others would have put a bias on me taking more photos for this.
Overall, I feel like this is a good outcome for this project with me creating a very cohesive photobook, which focused on my strengths.
