Chosen Brief - 19.12.22
For the briefs, I decided to add some time to reflect on what I really wanted to do for this unit. I added this time to the Gantt Chart so that I have time to think about it, whilst being able to juggle other projects such as the photography unit.
For the Top Trumps card, I felt like it would be easy for me to come up with something that anyone can personalise and a lot of my class is going for the Top Trump card brief. I feel like originality is the best course of action.
The penguin book merchandise is an interesting concept, but due to doing a studio shoot (for photography) and a book cover for unit 13 and unit 4, I feel like this would burn me out and I would not come up with another idea for something related to books. I know that book covers are interesting and I know that I can come up with very interesting merchandise ideas, but at the same time, my portfolio cannot showcase what I can do as a graphic designer and thus will lean more on the typography posters.
I can also come up with my own typeface that can reflect any chosen issue as a whole.
I feel like this typography-led brief will be an interesting idea overall and could be something that is inspiring for everyone as I feel like being able to finally put my ideas down for a mental health charity or a place so that people feel like someone is listening to them is a good idea.
The brief does mean that I would need to research a lot about mental health in general and would need to see if there are any original ideas already out there to support each other.
This brief also talks about needing to have;
-
At least 3 different posters
-
At least 1 digital element
-
At least one non-traditional touchpoint
I have already come up with some ideas for these different types of designs but will need to make sure that these ideas can be put forward.
