Collagraphy Using Our Logos - 04.10.22
For this lesson, we tried transferring our logos onto paper using a technique called calligraphy, which you etch or cut out a design onto paperboard and then printed onto paper.
Step 1) Cut out the design onto paperboard
Step 2) Get some ink and then spread this onto your design that you just cut out
Step 3) Get a rag and then clean up some of the ink off of the paperboard, not too much as some ink is still needed for the whole board
Step 4) get some card and then make sure that the card is wet by putting it in a wet dish
Step 5) Blot some of the water off the card so that the card is not too wet
Step 6) Get some paper and put it on the bed of the starwheel etching press, this is so that the swanskin does not get too dirty from the ink
Step 7) put the swanskin over the paperboard, card and the paper so that it makes a paper sandwich on the bed of the starwheel etching press
Step 8) turn the wheel so that it applies pressure over everything
Step 9) Pull apart the sandwich and see your work!
Shown below are the outcomes for both the steps and the logo design.
