Timelapse of Getting the Screen Print Transfers Ready - 13.05.23
This is a timelapse of me trying to get the screen print transfers ready for the screens. For me to be able to scale it up properly, I had to do some quick calculations for the project. To scale it up so that the poster looks like it would be at 20 LPI, a ratio had to be calculated.
Scaling needs to be completed for the transfer paper to be of high quality. Any deviations from the original size, it would increase the pixel density and would sharpen the image if it would be scaled down, whilst scaling up would inherit pixels starting to be shown.
The original poster size was A2 and I needed to scale it so that it would fit onto an A1 piece. For this calculation, I needed to work out what the ratio of enlargement was for the poster. I had to divide one of the sides of A1.
In this case, it was the width of the poster at 594mm. This was then divided by 420mm, as this was the width of the poster at A2. This gave me a scale of 1.41, which is the amount that the Lines Per Inch was divided by to get me a Lines Per Inch for the A1 poster, which would be at 14 LPI. This result would give me something that would look similar to the 20 LPI at A2, but without the pixelated look of upscaling the poster. This could also be avoided by ensuring that I creating a smart object in photoshop, but would rather start from scratch due to this complicating things.
Anyways, the timelapse below shows what was completed for the day.
