What is Your Rationale for the Project?
At the start of the course, I already had a basic understanding of Graphic Design when I took Graphic Design when I was younger. I also started doing photography as a hobby when I was in university. I feel like I could combine both engineering and graphics into this project (or any set tasks for that matter). Engineering could be more on the planning side whilst Graphics is more on the creative side.
I, myself, do not have a strict creative output to say as I can easily hop from using graphic design tools such as illustrator and photoshop to a more heavily reliant on the use of photography and lightroom, especially film. I feel like to make use of my skills (and my new found ones) I would need to combine everything that I have learnt into this project, which ranges from print making to photography, logo design to lettering, website design to poster design.
I also feel like learning something new such as a UI designer like Adobe XD could also be a good thing to do for this project, we will see.
What is the Concept of the Project?
The concept of this project is to show awareness about the amount of waste we produce. I wanted to challenge people’s opinions about waste in general and how to be more mindful of that.
I felt like more people throw away things that can be recycled or repaired, litter in or around public spaces or natural spaces, or even use packaging that is not helpful for the environment - just being wiser about waste and how we either dispose of it or recycle it.
In the allocated time, I am going to try and produce 3 sets of posters and a website. I have already settled for a neat logo design which was designed during the start of the set allocated time, whilst researching more about the topic and ideas that I came up with. I will try and focus my research on experimentation instead and also use skills developed over the year.
I will experiment with the different techniques and see what I like about them and evaluate what things will be great and what things will not work.
How are you Going to Evaluate on Your Project?
I will evaluate things as I go along and see if things work or not. For example, I was/am experimenting with 3D anaglyph to create a more hands-on experience, but this might not work if I also film the photos. I will also add an evaluation at the end of the project to reflect on these experiences. I can also ask the people around me as this is more to challenge the views of everyone, rather than a target audience.
