Screen Printing Test - 27.03.23

For this,  I experimented with the use of screen printing with the 3D anaglyph on the print as I wanted to see if the whole thing would work. The outcomes are shown below;

The last photo was the best out of the bunch because I was able to line up the screen before they went onto the paper.

I wanted to see if I could screen print a whole set and see if multiple prints could be done to achieve this. With screen printing multiple prints, I needed to ensure I can line up the screens. I also need to ensure that there is enough ink to go from the top to the bottom, as even with the best-aligned screen print, It was really difficult to get enough ink to get to the bottom of the screen.

I could also experiment with the use of a different type of bit mapping as well. But it does work. The whole idea of being able to use photos to create posters and then using screen printing to do this with different layers as different screen prints as well

I might pivot and use a roll of film  that has not been film souped or black and white as adding this to the list of things that has been done in this project might hurt the outcome. I might though, use colour photos from digital/film for this instead and keep the trichromatic outlook and outcome. I also think that adding marks where I could see to align the screens together might also be a good idea as well.

I also showed my tutors the outcomes, and they were really pleased with it and how I created the results for this experiment. One of them talked about the tolerances of the 3D effect and how this is not too obvious with the glasses on. Another tutor also liked the way that the screen was not aligned properly and made the thing look abstract.

I also think that creating the posters to look abstract also adds to the way that I can show the way that we are going to destroy the world if we keep going down the route that we are currently going, with each print degrading in terms of accuracy of layering everything on top of everything.

Keeping the logo white and having that as an outline also works well and would keep that idea. But for now, I think that it is best to experiment with the film soup to see if the 3D effect works and to either keep the film souped rolls of film for another better-suited topic or to use it for this project.

The other thing that I could also do was to print the prints onto thicker paper, as the paper that I printed onto was not thick enough and would crease due to getting wet with each screen inked.

Other than that, I am very pleased that this Trichromatic screen print worked well and I would consider trying to do this for the final project.
