Testing Film Soup Roll with 3D Anaglyph - 27.03.23
For this, I experimented with trying to create 3D Anaglyph with the souped film roll that I shot a while back. I could not process the roll that I already was using in my camera due to it still not being finished and also was close to the time when I am going away for a holiday with my family, which means I cannot develop it or shoot it in time to scan them in.
Anyways, this is the time lapse for this outcome;
This provided to be a good experience for me to create a displacement map and to be clear, it was really difficult to create these displacement maps as I would have to layer everything so that it was the correct layer on top of each other. I also learnt that creating them also needed to be a wide range of black and white, which is annoying when I have to change them to something lighter or darker depending on what I already have put onto the layer.
I also have to hand paint some of the finer detail as creating such displacements requires some degree of speed and accuracy, which only a pen capacitive screen would allow, rather than using a mouse for finer movement.
Overall, the idea of creating this 3D effect is difficult if I would want to get it right, whilst, with screen printing, I would only need to create the screens and align them together.
I would also need to choose photos that had a really simple background compared to the one that I chose for this experiment.
