Logo Design - Part 2 - With Slogan - 30.03.23
For today's work, I carried on experimenting with the logos to see if there is anything else that I could change about the logo. I talked to my best friend about the logo to see if he could provide any feedback for the design and he talked about the previous logo iterations looking too similar to other logos. This is shown below, with all the iterations that I went through when designing the logo and the slogan.
Whilst designing, me and my best friend were talking about how the logos looked like the logos shown below. I wanted to ensure that this was not the case and tried to create a logo which would not closely resemble any of the logos shown. There was also a case where the top part of the bin looked too similar to a teddy bear's head, which was quickly fixed with putting a handle on the bin lid.

With the slogan, I decided to use a font that I found in Google Fonts. Google Fonts was suggested in the brief of Unit 14. I wanted a font that would stand out when screen printing onto paper as screen printing would be the last step of creating the poster and with all the half-tone dots, it would be very difficult to see if it had serifs and anything that would make it hard to read in between the half-tones. That means I had to choose something that was quite geometrically good, with easy-to-read lettering. Choosing something bold would also help with both the lettering for the poster and the lettering for the slogan.
This experimentation is shown below, with changes to the leading and tracking of the lettering. With Illustrator, you can also provide a shape you can type inside. This was used when I was hanging around with the shape of the text box to match the slant of the bin logo.
