Final Experiments - 23.02.24

For these final experiments, I needed to make sure that they were things that I was happy with.

I also needed to make sure that I scanned them in at a higher resolution and thus, needed to change the big scanner settings to be A3 whilst scanning at TIFF files (which I would come to regret doing later)

TIFF files offer more resolution and are scalable compared to the PNG and JPEG files that I am used to using for projects. But for printing and creating the distorted edges of the lettering, I used PNG as this would make it easier for my lecturer to print for me.

This had some side effects that I was not ready for. For one, the edges of the lettering started to pixelate as I thought that the PNG image was high enough resolution for the size that I was printing at, but nope… It started to pixilate, which I thought added to the texture of the cover well. But this would be a problem for the article pages as this would pixelate the lettering too much and would cause some of the lettering to be illegible. So, to combat this, I would bump the PNG resolution to 2x, which would give me the pixilated look of the cover image but would make it so that the pixelation would not be too severe and would mean that the text is still legible.

There was also another problem that happened when I was printing out the page layouts. The printer that I chose happened to have this ink misalignment when printing and thus would have lines across the page. This would normally bother me, but seeing that 1) I wanted to experiment with it and 2) I did not want to waste paper, I decided to go for it and experiment with it.

I also thought that it would be nice to add the texture of the printer error for my design as I felt like life isn’t meant to be perfect and thus, left it in for experimenting. This added so much more texture for the final piece and kept it there for more experimenting.
