Cover Page Design and Feedback - 22.05.24

I was chosen to do the cover page design, as I was the one who offered (just so that it is something for me to do in the meantime).

For this front cover, I wanted to make sure that it is totally different to what I had designed to my own article and thus, started to think what would the other people on my course would love to see on the cover and what kind of design would be a safe, but also eye catching design for the cover. I thought about the colours that the others have used and decided that the cover should have pastel colours, as this is not as intense of a colour palette as some others have used for their designs, but also would incorporate calmness and coolness whereas my design consisted of a rough, but hopeful outlook, not being perfect compared to the perfectness of the cover and also the colours of the front cover.

There seems to be a grittiness to my article design compared to the cover and I really like the stark difference that makes in my designs. It’s as if you do not really know who designed the cover as this is meant to be a more collaborative project.

Here is the development that I did for the cover.

I also asked for feedback (well, got given feedback) and it took my design from missing something in the middle of the page, to something that looks really eye catching and having a customised font too for the lettering of the magazine. I really do like the design of the cover compared to what it was before and I am very grateful for the instant feedback from the rest of the class.

Here is the cover, which includes the page numbers and Instagram handles from everyone in my class.
