Digital Portrait Using the Pen Tool in Illustrator - 29.09.22

Last week we got taught how to use the pen tool in illustrator. This week, we had to do a self-portrait of ourselves. This self-portrait could be used in our work to provide a sort of custom branding for our own graphic designs or anything that we can offer to the customer. I based off my self-portrait on my professional headshot taken for my Instagram. The different outcomes are shown below;

The first photo was just the basic outline and shape of my head, whilst the second I wanted to experiment with the use of more detail in the eyes and an outline. The last photo I added a shirt and more detail in the ear compared to the rest of the outcomes, but all the outcomes still show that it is me, which is suitable for making sure that I have a coherent look in my work and in my designs. These portraits and this style can also work for self-branding as well.

Whilst these are very good for an hour's worth of work, I could try and make sure that it has even more detail in the portrait. But as a recognisable piece of personal branding, the less detail, the better and thus, the first outcome could actually be more appropriate to the whole self-branding. But as a completed piece of work, the last outcome could be used.

I managed to do this work in the lesson as I have past experience with Illustrator before and had to learn everything by myself, so during the lesson, I would try and make sure that everyone managed to do what they wanted and I would try and help them out as well.
