Initial Designs - 03.11.22
Today (after getting the research for the presentation on typography) I decided to sketch out some initial ideas for the book cover.
The book cover has to be a certain height and width, which is 270mm by 198mm, which is the front, back and spine combined. The photo shown is the initial layout of the cover without the initial sketches on top of the layout.

The middle of the layout is the spine of the book, which is 20mm in width, whilst the front and back of the book are 126mm in width. The initial designs are shown below.
Most of these designs are double spreads that spread across the cover as I feel like this would be an interesting look on the cover. For most of my research, I gravitated towards the double-page spread as I felt like when I handled the book, it was interesting to notice the designs that do this. You have the hook for the front cover, but they also can entice you to turn the book around to make you read the blurb and notice anything else on the cover.
