Dog Sketches and Illustrations - 20.11.22
I started with some simple sketches of dogs that have fallen over. I used crosses in their eyes to show that they are dead as this is the simplest form of symbolism that can incorporate the idea that the dog is dead.
I then used illustrator to use the initial sketch as a base to illustrate the dog. This will then be going through different iterations to see what is the best illustration for the dog.
I had to use a black background for some of them so that I could see what I was doing when trying to rearrange the legs of the dog and thicken the line weight used for the illustration.
The slideshow shows the different iterations that I went through to get to where I was happy.
The illustration was then added to the back of the cover.
As you can see below, the line weight changed when trying out the illustration on the cover. I felt like the line weight was too light when I applied the illustration so I changed the weight to a heavier one and was happy with it.
The coloured dog collar also adds to the coloured accents of the cover, just to add some accents within the cover.
