I feel like the final design balances the way that the book talks about a serious condition, whilst still having this playful meaning to it. The lettering signifies the way that a young kid/teen might write, whilst the background shows someone peering into someone's garden. It is a little serious, but not to the point that it is something too serious and would off-put someone from picking up the book and reading the blurb.

Speaking of the blurb, I think that adding the illustration of the dog will entice people to be curious as to how the dog died (with the help of the red text to show more curiosity). The dog also looks like it was drawn by a little kid to help show that it is a kid (or someone younger than an adult) that drew it, not just a poorly drawn dog.

The coloured accents (from the penguin logo to the small accents on the dog) also help to draw people in as it contrasts with the black-and-white background.

Overall, it was challenging to balance a very serious topic of a young kid that has autism, whilst trying to show it from the point of view of a kid. I am very happy with the way that this has turned out and I will try and talk to people and see what they think of the design.
