The Big Sleep Book Covers - 05.10.23
For this exercise, we were given small photos of book covers that were all jumbled up and out of order. We needed to sort them out into time order, coming from the first edition of the book to the latest edition of the book. The slideshow below shows the group's initial guess for each edition of the book. There were some out-of-place books for us as we could not tell if the book was from an earlier edition or not due to the books looking like someone made it during the 1950s such as the book that looked like Saul Bass’ graphics. There was one of the book covers that purely used a photograph, which we thought it was when the photo came out, but as soon as the answers were revealed, this was completely wrong.
Anyways, the point of this exercise was to try and figure out which ones was the timeless design, as anything that we thought was older seemed to age badly, whilst with the newer design, we would think that they were the newer ones
Everyone also managed to get the first edition book wrong due to it looking it like it used photoshop, even though this book was hand made.
